So what I did is that I used a which foldable drawer organiser from Ikea (I'd write the proper name later) and push the Ikea deak lamp right at the angle where half the light shine through the top of the box, and half the light shine straight at the miniature. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Another way to look at this like you have a open box made with whitw cloth, put it side way opening facing you, then put the lamp at the top edge of the open so that the side on the top helped defused the light and thw front opening let direct light hit the mini.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The result is a lot better then just shining the ligt straight at the miniature, and I haven't spent any money on it....</p>
<p dir="ltr">... but my painting is pretty average this time, I know... </p>

New topic for the blog: Fountain Pen!<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">

Hi everyone,<br />
<br />
Thanks to popularity of macro photography my site reached 100k hit! Thanks everyone!<br />
<br />
I had always been interested in fountain pens and recently I had started investing in better ones. I started with Pilot Pera with a set of Iroshizuku ink, then moved on to TWSBI ECO and just tonight, I broke the 3 digit price tag (Hong Kong dollars, that's about USD20 max) and got a 1k+ (again HKD, about USD150) Sailor 1911 Profit Standard Demonstrator Transparent Body.<br />
<br />
Here are some close up shot of the beautiful nib, more entries for the other pens to follow.<br />

<div dir="ltr">
Haven’t painted again for a very long time now, most of the paint on my desk settled and different layers of liquid started to appear… </div>
<div dir="ltr">
So last night when I started on the lower part of the body I had to paint larger and almost flat surfaces. This kind of surface had always pose problem for me, getting it even and smooth isn’t easy with brushes, and using air brush isn’t that easy for me (yet). I’d post photos later than the track if it persist: as the paint dries little pigments started to appear forming rings on the surface… so I had to paint over it again and again…</div>
<div dir="ltr">
Very keen to get something motorized to deal with these paint when I am busy, but for now I don’t have the money for it. Speaking of that, there are two options: one is to vibrate it, the other is to get a mechanism to shake it up and down like what I do with my arms. We’d see.<br />
One thing I was rather pleased is how I handled the lining on the hat, I think I got the detail just right.</div>

Haven't done something like this before, and haven't done a mini from start to finish in a shorter period of time in a long while as well. The last two that I had done took over a year, and the diorama that I started 2 years ago is still only 70% finished.<br />
<br />
Anyway I ran into a lot of issues, especially when some of my supplies are still not in my current workshop:<br />
<br />
- I had to make the base as well, which I got a whole bunch of secret weapon base tucked away in storage and not with me, so I need to make due with the plastic square base that comes with the mini.<br />
<br />
- I haven't got enough time to let the glue dry, didn't have time to let the green stuff dry, so I just pray that these won't give me trouble down the track.<br />
<br />
- the box art is not a painted version of the mini so I need to quickly think of a color scheme, which Is am still trying to make up my mind.<br />
<br />
- air-brushing took me a while as I need to clean the air brush before and after using, and I spent some time clean it after use so it'd be easier for me next time.<br />
<br />
- photography is still a problem as the lighting is still a little harsh, which again took me a while.<br />
<br />
- order of painting was wrong, I could have do the small parts first, then mid tone to make corrections, then .... should I do the shading first or highlight first... damn it.<br />
<br />
Anyway, as I woke up this morning and took the mini under the sun to have another look, it wasn't too bad, and it had been fun.<br />

<p dir="ltr">These are the first bunch of paints I got for this hobby, all except the black. I was told that the easiest way to prime a mini was to paint it black. I did that as it made sense with my Chaos armored units. Later on I learned that black is actually the hardest color to paint and paint over I stayed away from this pot for a long time. Not until recently I had enough skill and courage to use black paint, but still I haven't gone through my second pot.</p>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
trying to start my painting service business, selected the first batch of Reaper BONES (1st kickstarter, vampire level) for painting. Some of them are of very good quality and have a lot of details, some of them are so-so, one or two of them got a very... simple face but I'd do something about it. All in all I expect to sell them for USD10 to USD20 each, not trying to make a profit but just to help with my cash flow. The list of selected BONES below (the link is for the original metal cast, I'd post the BONE version on hand later)</div>

The finaly touches was done with molding clay and sandy pastes (forgot proper name). The clay is water soluble so it was really good at filling in larger gaps of the base giving it is more natural look, plus it was very easy to shape while being wet.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The next step is to make the claws rest more naturally on the rock, and the hind leg touching the base.</p>

Hi everyone, I am back and hopefully I can keep posting here. This is going to be a slow project as I am working on a pretty complicated, long-overdue paint job (checkout my FB page if interested: <a href="https://www.facebook.com/ipaintiam">https://www.facebook.com/ipaintiam</a>).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y26y0InMV0s/Vfd_mGgMPUI/AAAAAAAAIcY/B81QI9dFYAw/s1600/421809_10152644285895122_696667497_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y26y0InMV0s/Vfd_mGgMPUI/AAAAAAAAIcY/B81QI9dFYAw/s320/421809_10152644285895122_696667497_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<br />
I love this Sophie, so much so that actually I got two of her, one that I had already finished a while back, and another one sitting in the box since last X'mas. Here is the one that I had already painted, excuse the poor lighting... She had been one of the better models sitting on my display shelf for long now, but one thing that keeps on bugging me is that she deserve more, more elements to complete the story, and especially something for her to shoot at...<br />
<br />
So when I ordered another Sophie during last Xmas, I order a bunch of other mini to compliment her. Sticking to the tomb theme I got an army pack of mummies and a mummy lord... Excuse me for not correctly naming though cause I am not really into pathfinder.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uBuKGb9gRfQ/Vfd_ncpOplI/AAAAAAAAIcg/ANNMZt2Efqc/s1600/ArQ5Rwkk8A3xLgZkBqVLdJ2M3SS8LZRqyXMtPJEjDleH.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uBuKGb9gRfQ/Vfd_ncpOplI/AAAAAAAAIcg/ANNMZt2Efqc/s320/ArQ5Rwkk8A3xLgZkBqVLdJ2M3SS8LZRqyXMtPJEjDleH.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
The fun thing about doing diorama is that I can play around with the setting ideas in my head for days and days, and gave me excuses for looking up all sorts of stuff like background information on tombs. One one that I really want to get happening this time is to set a good composition for the whole thing, trying to use techniques like triangle placement, 3:1 golden ratio extra... the current idea is like this one. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

In real life, as i saw dueing all the hiking, the wild roads are pretty flat, even for areas that no one treaded bigger rocks are not that frequent. So the problem here with this base is it still doesn't look natural enough. The worst part is the claw doesn't fit right with the ground, that means i need to out more clay or green stuff on it... we'd see.</div>

Hi guys, I am back again.<br />
<br />
Very happy with the zombies from Studio miniature this time, the casting of some of them are a bit off, but overall they are great. Comparing to the plastics ones that comes with Zombiecide game they got a lot more details.<br />
<br />
I got other kids to add later on, but I am still painting some of them so only one is standing against the advancing horde. It was really fun placing them on the set, best part of setting up this huge (for me) diorama.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
introducing the new member to my figure collection: Super Sonico. Not quite as adorable as Yotsuba, she is just as cute and a lot more prettier. This Figma figure comes with 2 head options (hoodie hat on or off) and 3 face options. It also got 4 sets of hand options that fit with different posts. The stand is made up of two poles so she can be lifted and doesn't really need to stand with her own feets.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Although she might got some good curves her story (Comics and TV Anime) is innocent enough: a uni student who part time as model and got her own band (with two other girls).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So hopefully she can really spicy up my entries. Stay tuned~~</div>

Hi everyone.<br />
<br />
There had been some changes to my life so I haven't paint nor blog for a long while.<br />
<br />
Next up, I'd finish up my zombie dio and start a new project, along side with doing my last two commission paint jobs for my friend.<br />
<br />
First up, introducing Super Sonico, the mascot to make my entries a bit more interesting! I am getting the Figma version of her so she will be just as animated as ever. Previousely, I had Yotsuba which yield me very good attention and hit rates.<br />

Hi everyone.<br />
<br />
This was actually intended as a practice run for the chipping agent, but it didn't turn out well. So jumping ahead here this is how it turns out. See that little bit of silver near the handle, and the little scratch mark near the top, that's the Chipping medium in action. This time around I applied too little so the effect isn't too apparent...<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used a lot of the P3 formula medium for thinning. Mixed with equal part of water it works very well and better than purely working with water. With pure water the tiny pigments of the paint would sometimes got spread out to the edges and forms paint 'rings'. With this medium the pigment is less spread out and therefore offering much easier thinning.</div>

Yellow had always been hard for me, but I think this one turns out okay. The base was painted with thinned Citadel Foundation mustard yellow, then high-light with a lighter yellow. Shadow and recess area wasn't too painted as it was taken care of with air brush". I did a zenith 'black' and white base coat with air brush. That saved me a lot of time. <br />

<div>
Hi everyone,<br />
<br />
So it appears that product based or brand based posts attract a lot of hits, so to get more hits I will try to do more of these step by step - not that I am good enough to do instructions of how to use a product, but I think it would be useful for people who are considering getting their hands on these products.<br />
<br />
Enjoy.<br />

<br /></div>
<div>
<hr />
Step 1 : Buy it<br />
<br />
Jumping a head here, the 17ml bottle goes for about USD5 is well worth the price. Very easy to use and easy to control, a lot easier than salting. One try of this could give you a very good idea on how it works. I recommend using air-brush to apply the medium, but if you don't have an air-brush, just remember to keep it thin when you are applying it. (Remember to use a clean brush though.)<br />
<br />
Simple step to use this is:<br />
- paint the surface to make it look like rusted metal<br />
- apply medium<br />
- paint the top coat<br />
- apply water so that the medium will melt away<br />
- chip the top coat with tissue paper or cotton tip</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 2: build your model</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's very hard to get plastic model kits to match with my 30mm miniatures: the size never really quite match. Plus, it's very expensive to get accessories that are designed for 30mm, besides, each manufacturer made their miniatures a little different anyway. 1:35 or 1:48 is pretty much the closest, cheapest models that I can find. This kit was meant for populating transport vehicles, and I bought it for my Zombicide game to be used as objectives.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-htMb15h4BQc/VJOFP_UQo7I/AAAAAAAAIHQ/xSTQLgplkv0/s1600/20141218_011031.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-htMb15h4BQc/VJOFP_UQo7I/AAAAAAAAIHQ/xSTQLgplkv0/s1600/20141218_011031.jpg" height="320" width="258" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Tamiya<br />
Allied Vehicles Accessory Set</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 3: prime it</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Again on the topic of going cheap, the spray on primer from Mr Hobby is cheaper than the one form Tamiya. Plus, I had some bad experience with Tamiya primer: the result is too rough, not smooth and a lot of small grins on the surface. </div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vNHCRPGZRqw/VJOFJBOM7mI/AAAAAAAAIGE/AxpyxD93xto/s1600/20141218_003756.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vNHCRPGZRqw/VJOFJBOM7mI/AAAAAAAAIGE/AxpyxD93xto/s1600/20141218_003756.jpg" height="319" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mr. Hobby<br />
Mr. Primer Surfacer 1000<br />
170ml Spray </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Step 4: base rusted metal color<br />
<br />
The idea of chipping is to chip away the top coat of paint to reveal the metal underneath. Rusting, therefore should come after the metal is revealed and after long exposure to air and moist .<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.corrosionist.com/corrosion-drop-water.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://www.corrosionist.com/corrosion-drop-water.jpg" height="160" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">http://www.corrosionist.com/what_causes_rust.htm</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
But to save time, I painted the whole thing brown and applied a lot of pigment to place that I think should rust easier: edges, middle of larger surfaces. I was rushing a little so this isn't too well done.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PKgM8mk9NK0/VJOFJYrgzFI/AAAAAAAAIGI/hv4K3YQfn4Q/s1600/20141218_005202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PKgM8mk9NK0/VJOFJYrgzFI/AAAAAAAAIGI/hv4K3YQfn4Q/s1600/20141218_005202.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>

Secret Weapon Wash</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Vallejo Pigment</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Step 4: apply the medium<br />
<br />
Because I am not sure if these are easier to wash off, I used brush to apply the medium. In hindsight, I could have used air-brush for this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ClmbzmS264E/VJOFKQnrSnI/AAAAAAAAIGY/AZ2HidOQNOQ/s1600/20141218_005315.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ClmbzmS264E/VJOFKQnrSnI/AAAAAAAAIGY/AZ2HidOQNOQ/s1600/20141218_005315.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
See actually I applied a lot of the medium on the surface, at some parts they are more like a droplet on the surface, forming a little pond.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0NhgrgMz9ws/VJOFLXYxRzI/AAAAAAAAIGg/L_xM2Wu2fUs/s1600/20141218_005442.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0NhgrgMz9ws/VJOFLXYxRzI/AAAAAAAAIGg/L_xM2Wu2fUs/s1600/20141218_005442.jpg" height="319" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Step 5: apply the top coat<br />
<br />
I used water based acrylic paint because I fear that the alcohol based paint will melt away the medium. I'd try alcohol based paint next time.<br />
<br />
Anyway, after the medium is completely dry I air-brushed on the top coat. Remember, it has to be VERY dry before applying the top coat. Haven't done a good job at this because I don't use these paint for air brushing at all: they dry too slow...<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RtS44Hwud6k/VJOFLsIBnMI/AAAAAAAAIGk/lb2oqV7UpM0/s1600/20141218_010446.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RtS44Hwud6k/VJOFLsIBnMI/AAAAAAAAIGk/lb2oqV7UpM0/s1600/20141218_010446.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Citadel<br />
Foundation<br />
Knarloc Green</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Step 6: apply water<br />
<br />
I basically just dripped water over it, but I applied very thick layer of medium so so it washed away quite a lot of the top coat. The best thing about this is that you can get chipping with sharp edges.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WcrRol_McUc/VJOFOo3G33I/AAAAAAAAIHI/tTwgvG3moZE/s1600/20141218_011006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WcrRol_McUc/VJOFOo3G33I/AAAAAAAAIHI/tTwgvG3moZE/s1600/20141218_011006.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mxjoGDjXs2A/VJOFMaHTrRI/AAAAAAAAIGw/oWeLyl5hNdk/s1600/20141218_010729.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mxjoGDjXs2A/VJOFMaHTrRI/AAAAAAAAIGw/oWeLyl5hNdk/s1600/20141218_010729.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hpHpHNxVirk/VJOFNKAktXI/AAAAAAAAIG0/vMk61bsLCTU/s1600/20141218_010734.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hpHpHNxVirk/VJOFNKAktXI/AAAAAAAAIG0/vMk61bsLCTU/s1600/20141218_010734.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And the best bit is that the chipping could happen in tiny portions, see the edge of the letters on the top of the barrel.<br />
<br />

It was a learning experience. <br />
(This turns out to be a very long entry and got a lot of photos... )<br />
<br />
I made a lot of mistakes, acted on impulse and bought a lot of material out of impulse as well. So as it turns out I don't need a lot of the stuff I bought and I wasted a lot of material along the way as well.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did a mock up by just putting together some stock paper and wood.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ud7uUDyTsUc/VIZv7at5nJI/AAAAAAAAH9o/UkClxrOJfBs/s1600/20141101_031957.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ud7uUDyTsUc/VIZv7at5nJI/AAAAAAAAH9o/UkClxrOJfBs/s1600/20141101_031957.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I just stuff the spaces with a lot of clay, really, a lot of clay. but as I realized that it was a waste I started to use more wood to set up the base first, to fill up the spaces so that I don't need so much clay.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aMypYmP1egE/VIZv0aYWKXI/AAAAAAAAH8o/8IdxZEdtoJQ/s1600/20141103_011749.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aMypYmP1egE/VIZv0aYWKXI/AAAAAAAAH8o/8IdxZEdtoJQ/s1600/20141103_011749.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
got to love Juweela bricks. I had been using them on a lot of my models. This time around I learned something more about them: don't prime them, just paint on them. I made such a mistake and it took me a lot more work to get it look real. Also, it pays to put some space between them. In reality they won't be so neatly packed together like that.</div>

So when I had learned my lessons I used a lot more wood to make some framework under bigger wood panels so that I don't have to fill the spaces with expensive clay again.</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And when It's done I just put a thick layer of clay on top, and start sculpting the surface to make them look like stone slabs. I smooth out the surface by dripping a lot of water on top of it and smooth it with finger. It was quite messy actually. I sprinkled some sand on it so that it got more stone like texture.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is how it looks like after priming an air-brushed. Back when I was trying to smooth it out I used a lot of water, so at the end there were a lot of 'spikes' as the clay behaved like whip cream. I ended up having to clip away the spikes to make it look more natural.</div>

Hi everyone, I am back :)<br />
<br />
I had been posting these on WAMP forum but I didn't get a lot of interest, but I'd still post it here to see if I can get some more interest here. So at this moment the diorama is already half done and on to painting the characters already.<br />
<br />
I always wanted to do a full scale diorama, but never really have the courage to do it. This time around I got a lot of motivation from the Umbrella Revolution movement I got inspired and put this idea into action.<br />
<br />
Well this is only my first stab at building something this big I made quite a lot of mistakes, one of the biggest mistake is that I haven't thought the whole thing through before going on to make it. I did made some sketch of course but that didn't help much.<br />
<br />
Anyway, on the the topic first. <br />
<br />
It all started when I came to the understanding that any mini diorama basing should not only have a good base, enough stuff to support the miniature, but a good diorama base should have stuff UNDER the miniature, BEHIND the miniature and even ABOVE the miniature: ie, levels.<br />
<br />
So I figured that there's a street here in Hong Kong that is famous for it's stone slabs that should be perfect for a good base... slowly the basing idea became a diorama idea...<br />
<br />
To date it's still an early stage project but it's slowly coming together...<br />
<br />
The official name of the street is Pottinger Street. It is a street in Central, Hong Kong, which better better known as the Stone Slabs Street (石板街) by the locals, named after the granite stone steps which are a rarity nowadays in Hong Kong. The street was named after Henry Pottinger, the first Governor of Hong Kong.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BNEnsRk147A/VIVNTZZ61NI/AAAAAAAAH5Q/30J4CHcbqw4/s1600/164-pottinger-stone-slab-street-04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BNEnsRk147A/VIVNTZZ61NI/AAAAAAAAH5Q/30J4CHcbqw4/s1600/164-pottinger-stone-slab-street-04.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LzbQV6ebHLY/VIVNTXp8coI/AAAAAAAAH5Q/dcCx5jeCf-c/s1600/223157q2q4q4q4ei4e31ot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LzbQV6ebHLY/VIVNTXp8coI/AAAAAAAAH5Q/dcCx5jeCf-c/s1600/223157q2q4q4q4ei4e31ot.jpg" height="199" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
There is actually a Air Raid shelter under this street, but was later covered up with stone slabs. Originally I thought it would be really cool to built this into the set, but this idea haven't made it to the diorama though...<br />
<br />
a bit more about the history of the street here<br />

<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="clear: both;">
When it was last checked in the 1980's, it was considered to be at risk of collapsing, and so was filled in. This tunnel, along with Hong Kong's other Air Raid Precaution Tunnels, was built around 1940-41, so it would have been finished some where very close to the street's 100th birthday. </blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="clear: both;">
The single, sloping entrance to the tunnel was on the section of Pottinger St about midway between Stanley and Wellington Streets. From there the tunnel ran for appx 75m, straight back into the hill. Its only other claim to fame seems to be its ventilation system. It was one of two ARP tunnel networks in Hong Kong (the other was the the tunnel under the governor's residence) that used ducted ventilation. That would have been a necessity for this tunnel, as with only one entrance and no ventilation shaft, there was no other way to circulate fresh air.</blockquote>

Well...<br />
When I was crazy with this game a few months back I was so into it I thought I can finish painting them all in 3 weeks. As it turns out, and as things in real life caught up, I had just finished them all last week, ie, almost a year... haha.<br />
It's not the best of my work, but they are done.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-24RjAUckZvE/Ux_LYboZXCI/AAAAAAAAHJc/HYENkTGA3XQ/s1600/P1110338.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-24RjAUckZvE/Ux_LYboZXCI/AAAAAAAAHJc/HYENkTGA3XQ/s1600/P1110338.JPG" height="185" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Still very happy with the storage.<br />

<br />
And am still very happy with the transparent basing.<br />

<br />
I used to use blue dices for them, but then on they look too similar to the survivors so I just spray painted the clear bases blue.<br />
<br />

<br />
The extra zombies that I just can't resist, they are very good indeed. I still got a few more being painted but those don't count as the original plastic set aye? haha<br />

Hi everyone.<br />
<br />
because of my craze towards Zombicide I got hold of a lot of zombies and modern days miniatures. They had been sitting around the paint station for a long time now. I finally pull myself together and try to get better at speed painting miniatures.<br />
<br />
My steps:<br />
<br />
<ol style="text-align: left;">
<li>match them up with base</li>
<li>put the bits together, base them if the mini isn't too obstructing for paint the base</li>
<li>prime them with spray on</li>
<li>base coat them with wash, wet-blending on the base to get to the cracks</li>
<li>air-brush dark paints as shadows, extra layer if needed</li>
<li>air-brush on light paints as lights, extra layer for more dramatic effect</li>
</ol>
<br />
Not exactly hyper speed but it is a lot quicker than what I used to do. <br />
<br />
First stage is cleaning them and getting the right base for them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8AeznSltczU/UxlVXDYqBPI/AAAAAAAAHIU/8pNXrxXWTBA/s1600/2014-03-02+16.26.00.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8AeznSltczU/UxlVXDYqBPI/AAAAAAAAHIU/8pNXrxXWTBA/s1600/2014-03-02+16.26.00.jpg" height="320" width="318" /></a></div>
<br />
Most of them don't require much assembling except for two. These days I am a lot better with handling green stuff now.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T56GFU564wk/UxlVZGFOksI/AAAAAAAAHIg/wYL-eLm5ik8/s1600/20140303_002216.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T56GFU564wk/UxlVZGFOksI/AAAAAAAAHIg/wYL-eLm5ik8/s1600/20140303_002216.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So I match them up with base from Secret Weapon, again, excellent product and value for money.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4ERjxBxA42Y/UxlVZHrMjFI/AAAAAAAAHIk/ANj2Un4JB4c/s1600/20140302_171218.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4ERjxBxA42Y/UxlVZHrMjFI/AAAAAAAAHIk/ANj2Un4JB4c/s1600/20140302_171218.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
First I prime them with spray on primer, very easy step. the hardest part is getting it even, not as easy when some of them mini got a lot of abstracted bits.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--H9MpVIiEzA/UxlVZHzpqdI/AAAAAAAAHIc/GIw2TLtGjZg/s1600/20140305_000727.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--H9MpVIiEzA/UxlVZHzpqdI/AAAAAAAAHIc/GIw2TLtGjZg/s1600/20140305_000727.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I group them up according the the stage they are at.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V8hSYx7IiKU/UxlVZuP_6VI/AAAAAAAAHI0/loXyMkhgf50/s1600/20140305_010632.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V8hSYx7IiKU/UxlVZuP_6VI/AAAAAAAAHI0/loXyMkhgf50/s1600/20140305_010632.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />

Hi everyone. After getting this lot of BONES back in Oct last year, I had just started my first BONE. I'd talk in length about my thoughts on it after I am finally done and got something to show for it, so let's just look at the base for now...<br />
<br />
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HkP0rYdpb6w/Uwr1iWYKLSI/AAAAAAAAHHY/-FHCks7FuVk/s1600/20140222_232349.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HkP0rYdpb6w/Uwr1iWYKLSI/AAAAAAAAHHY/-FHCks7FuVk/s1600/20140222_232349.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
That's her standing there, tall and proud with her guitar. This is the third time I paint her, the first two times I painted the metal version of this miniature, it will be interesting to see how the experience this time differ from the metal version. The base is from Secret Weapon bag of crap, picked that up recently for an army project that I have in mind.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3m_MaYsT8ig/Uwr1idd-IeI/AAAAAAAAHHQ/aRFPN5CEEn0/s1600/20140222_234006(0).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3m_MaYsT8ig/Uwr1idd-IeI/AAAAAAAAHHQ/aRFPN5CEEn0/s1600/20140222_234006(0).jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The base comes with a bit of defects of course, this one comes with a few large bubbles that could be easily fixed with green stuff.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyklG77XEmeT0csc6lUf5nBOT1OIfWZXh9suv7yG6bRRp1ysijzCeQTz0bJRGonv2h5qEhcHENhk6NRPyZtDUVRxoBjy_TgWqqeseYw8kbhaJAHmSAln1mjkmYU233i_hQpWxPJtynJmbv/s1600/20140223_000627.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyklG77XEmeT0csc6lUf5nBOT1OIfWZXh9suv7yG6bRRp1ysijzCeQTz0bJRGonv2h5qEhcHENhk6NRPyZtDUVRxoBjy_TgWqqeseYw8kbhaJAHmSAln1mjkmYU233i_hQpWxPJtynJmbv/s1600/20140223_000627.jpg" height="320" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
Took me a while to remove the base off the miniature...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KLDFxjjPer0/Uwr1i0NAULI/AAAAAAAAHHk/_6TiC9yR510/s1600/20140223_004925.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KLDFxjjPer0/Uwr1i0NAULI/AAAAAAAAHHk/_6TiC9yR510/s1600/20140223_004925.jpg" height="320" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the first mock up of the set up. The few weapons actually cost more than the miniature itself, that's a first for me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QRVtcviwMWA/Uwr1jAbuLXI/AAAAAAAAHH8/FEGLEe5SA9g/s1600/20140223_010340.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QRVtcviwMWA/Uwr1jAbuLXI/AAAAAAAAHH8/FEGLEe5SA9g/s1600/20140223_010340.jpg" height="320" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
Now that I am very familiar with the wet blending technique base coating the base is very easy. Although it already looks pretty good without air-brushing, I've still done it to get the light/dark shading happening.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gK9pnyiKkIk/Uwr1jcPtRTI/AAAAAAAAHHo/zkOujeqRrI8/s1600/20140223_111420.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gK9pnyiKkIk/Uwr1jcPtRTI/AAAAAAAAHHo/zkOujeqRrI8/s1600/20140223_111420.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Air-brushing is really a super time saver, I need a better solvent for it though. The one I am using now is said to be good for leveling the paint, so it seems to be very thin. Although it comes out very smooth and nature, it takes a lot more 'passes' to get a solid shade...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gC1dc00bMig/Uwr1jicwVKI/AAAAAAAAHH4/usEG-Kde9W8/s1600/IMG_20140223_172014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gC1dc00bMig/Uwr1jicwVKI/AAAAAAAAHH4/usEG-Kde9W8/s1600/IMG_20140223_172014.jpg" height="310" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I had actually already glued all the weapons on the base, but again not too happy with the result so far. Will get some better pictures to show what I meant.<br />
<br />

Hi everyone and yes, this little blog got more than 20,000 hits! Much thanks to a few SEO tricks even with such little updates these few months the blog still got a lot of random hits.<br />
<br />
Haven't painted for a long time, not that I stopped entirely but more because I haven't been too pleased with the results I got lately. This is Bishop from Wyrd.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jyi_1iGEAW4/UwFdpK8XLaI/AAAAAAAAHF4/tJSAXQAQ08Q/s1600/IMG_1724.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jyi_1iGEAW4/UwFdpK8XLaI/AAAAAAAAHF4/tJSAXQAQ08Q/s1600/IMG_1724.JPG" height="319" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Comparing to the box art my Bishop is very dark and there isn't enough high lights. The air brushing shadow and light technique could only bring me this far and I think I should do less with it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QQtPDrwYhgk/UwFdpXKzaUI/AAAAAAAAHF8/EQTJDPRpejI/s1600/IMG_1726.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QQtPDrwYhgk/UwFdpXKzaUI/AAAAAAAAHF8/EQTJDPRpejI/s1600/IMG_1726.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I felt that his left shoulder is a bit too big, but I guess that's the thing about sculpting by hand instead of computer 3D sculpting, there'd always be little things that didn't quite go well. These days wyrd had moved towards plastic and 3D sculpting, and their art work changed a lot too. Not such a bad thing though their new miniatures are less attractive to me now.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-abuWRtod61s/UwFdyolT-ZI/AAAAAAAAHGY/ljCLQnNqZmU/s1600/IMG_1730.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-abuWRtod61s/UwFdyolT-ZI/AAAAAAAAHGY/ljCLQnNqZmU/s1600/IMG_1730.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The base came from Secret Weapon miniatures, it's a resin base. Got this from 'bag of crap' purchase. It got a lot of details and the stone textures are very convincing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L5QByv2mLkA/UwFdqAsXP3I/AAAAAAAAHGI/eAalSZ7fmDA/s1600/IMG_1734.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L5QByv2mLkA/UwFdqAsXP3I/AAAAAAAAHGI/eAalSZ7fmDA/s1600/IMG_1734.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The one part that I am happy with is perhaps his shoulder plate, where I managed to get out the fine gap between the two plates, and all the nails on the rim. The hand I thin was nicely painted too, can't say much about the rest of him though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
